Reality Check

I was driving with my friend Rebecca today. We were on our way home from a wonderful Sunday lunch with friends, listening to the radio. There was a van in front of me that was going rather slow for my taste, and I was getting a little frustrated. As I continued to follow the van down the road, it started to pull off onto another road. The van veered to the right, but did not go onto the road. Instead, they went into a ditch that was a lot deeper than it looked. The van then bounced up from the dip and started picking up speed. It demolished a mailbox, and ran through a fence. Something crashed out of the back window, and at this point I thought the van was going to tip over. As it went into the field, it slowed down and finally came to a stop. I pulled off the road and Becca called 911. Both guys were moving, and one got out of the car. I didn't know what to do! I felt so sick to my stomach. I was yelling to the man that got out of the van, making sure he was okay. He said that the driver choked, blacked out, and then that was that. He sounded like he was high. The other guy, the driver, got out of the van and then didn't say a word to us. He just bent down to pick something up. By this time, the police were on their way and the man who owned the field was out there. I was just standing there, feeling sick. We ended up driving away in silence and then in prayer. It just really puts things into perspective. Life is so fragile, and we need to be careful. wow.
